He was born on May 7, 1933 in Carrollton, MO, the son of Raymond E. and Fern L. (Howard) Sherer.. He attended elementary and high school in Fulton, graduating with the Class of 1951. He attended the University of MO for two years. He then accepted a position in the Fulton Callaway Bank, retiring after 40+ years of faithful service. He walked at least five miles a day for many years until his health caused him to quit. He loved watching sports on TV especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou (the University of MO). He was an avid fan of mystery books. He loved music, especially Louie Armstrong.
He and Deborah were faithful members of the First Baptist Church where he was a member since approximately 1941. He taught Sunday School, was on the finance committee and served as church treasurer for several years. In his later years he was a faithful church usher.
He married Deborah Graham on September 4, 1960 in St. Louis, MO who survives along with twin daughters, Bonnie and Brenda all of Fulton, MO. Also surviving is his sister, Marilyn D. (Richard) Hoisington of Spring Hill, KS, his nephews, Blaik, Bruce and Brian Hoisington of Olathe, KS and his niece, Brooke (Randy) Parker of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by many cousins.
