

William was born on May 20, 1934 in Fulton, MO the son of Norman and Edith (Wickell) McAtee who preceded him in death. He graduated from Fulton High School and attended Westminster College in Fulton, MO. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1957-1958. He was united in marriage on October 29, 1960 in Fulton, MO to Betty Lou (Wallace) McAtee who preceded him in death in 2022. Bill was an equipment operator for Harbison-Walker Brick Plant for 40 years, before retiring in 2000. He was a faithful member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton, MO and also a member of the Son of Union Veterans and National Rifle Association (NRA). He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include: two sons, John McAtee, Sr (Sue) of Kirkwood, MO and Brian McAtee (Heather) of Burlington, IA; one brother, Phillip McAtee (Ruth Anne) of Columbia, MO; five grandchildren, John McAtee Jr, William McAtee, Anna McAtee, Kathleen McAtee and Abigail McAtee; one great-grandson, Kayson Burton Weatherly and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at St Peter Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Fr Joseph Abah officiating. Burial will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery with full military honors.
