William Joseph "Jody" Thomas

Jody was born on February 4, 1957, in Fulton, Missouri to Paul and Margaret (Hawkins) Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eddie “Weasel” Thomas, whose memories he carried fondly in his heart.

Jody was a graduate of Fulton High School. He dedicated 25 years of his career as a pipefitter to the University of Missouri where he retired. He was well known for his strong work ethic and camaraderie.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Kimberly Thomas; his son, William Taylor Thomas and his daughter, Lynsey Taylor, along with her husband, Daniel Taylor who was like a son to him. He was a loving grandfather to Kaelei Taylor, Izaak Taylor, Kennedy Thomas and Liam Henry Thomas. His surviving family also includes his sister, Cathy Sligar and her husband Sam Sligar, as well as his sisters-in-law, Dana Jennings and Darla Pritchard. Jody was an uncle to Becky Thomas Valentine and Rachel Sligar, and a great uncle to Nathan Riley, Kelsie Riley, Kacie McCown, Joshua Johnson, Mattie Pritchard, Mallory Pritchard and Wesley Pritchard.

Jody was a man who knew how to enjoy life. He loved traveling to play pool and was an active member of the Fulton Senior Center. He could often be found playing poker with his closest friends, tending to his garden, spending time outdoors fishing or cheering on the Chiefs. Jody found joy in life’s simple moments. He had a gift for storytelling and a way of making people laugh that made him the life of every gathering.

His family extends heartfelt gratitude to Arlin Kettle, Greg Atterberry, Denny Hawkins and Dana Jennings for their unwavering support and companionship during his final days at home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fulton VFW on Sunday, October 18th from 2-6 PM. Family and friends are welcome to come share stories that honor a life that touched so many.

Jody leaves behind a legacy of quick wit, laughter and an enduring spirit that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
