Ann was born on August 11, 1932, in Etowah County, Alabama, to the late Homer and Annie White. She was a graduate of Southside High School and a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church.
Above all, Ann loved the Lord Jesus Christ and found great joy in sharing His love with others. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she sought to reflect that faith through her kindness, generosity, and love for those around her. Nothing made Ann happier than a house full of family and friends. She treasured the moments spent surrounded by those she loved, and her home was a place where memories were made, laughter was shared, and everyone was welcomed. Her greatest earthly blessing was her family, and the love she poured into each of them will remain a cherished part of her legacy.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Ray Smith, Sr.; grandson, Maury Vann Smith; granddaughter, Brandy Michelle Smith; sisters, Demyrle Whorton, Marie Alexander, Otho Pentecost, Joyce Armstrong, and Nancy Fuhrman; and brother, Butch White.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Susan (Richard) Hawkins; sons, Ray (Barbara) Smith and Randy (Ann) Smith; grandsons, Mark (Ashley) Hawkins, Brad (Michelle) Smith, and Clay (Natalie) Smith; granddaughters, Marla (Gary) Daves, Laura (Duce) Tate, and Britany (Chris) Brown; great-grandchildren, Joshua Hawkins, Tenley Benefield, Helen Anne Hawkins, Hudson Smith, Molly Tate, Raylee Tate, Caleb Daves, Lawson Smith, Sadie Smith, Tucker Smith, Andrew Daves, Emma Smith, and Tucker Brown; sister, Glennise (Andy) Collins; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all current and former deacons of Southside Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Southside Baptist Christmas Mission, c/o Southside Baptist Church, 3975 Alabama Highway 77, Southside, AL 35907.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, love, and support during this time.
