Arlen R. Kennedy

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Mr. Arlen Richard Kennedy, age 79, of Gadsden, who passed away December 25, 2010 at Riverview Regional Medical Center. The Rev. Lem Lockmiller will officiate with burial at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.

Mr. Kennedy was born on December 7, 1931 in Alabama City, Alabama to the late James Leonard and Nettie Pearl Elrod Kennedy. He was a member of Forrest Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He retired from the steel plant after 39.5 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry, Charles and Edward Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife, Carlean Kennedy; daughter, Mitzi (Butch) Colley of Columbus, MS; sisters, Margie (Bedford) Elrod of Attalla, AL; Peggy Lowery of Attalla, AL; and Patricia (Jimmy) Terrell of Albertville, AL; brother, Jimmy (Mindy) Kennedy of Boaz, AL; special cousins, Jane Cowan; and special friend, Lee Pruett.

Pallbearers will be Michael Kennedy, Jimmy Terrell, Patrick Lyles, Bennie Lyles, Rex Pruett and Larry Hallmark.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Neal and Richard Chesser.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Shah. Dr. Tummala, Dr. Sinha and the 7th floor nurses and staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
