A chapel service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, with Brother Scott Dean officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Barbara Kay was raised in the Howelton Mountain area and attended Etowah schools. She was a founding member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She loved gospel music and could play all types of music on the piano and organ. Her favorite activities included working in her garden, traveling, and enjoying a variety of foods. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William T. “Bill” and Bethel Mae Martin; her husband, Carl Hyfield; her son, Michael Hyfield; her sisters, Anita Martin and Betty (Jack) Johnson; and her brothers, Ralph (Gladys) Martin, Donald (Lorene) Dutt, and Dewey (Frances) Elkins.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Edmond) Woody; her grandchildren, Kerri (James) Gilbreath, Bryan Neil (Nathaniel) Davis-Stanfield, Dustin Hyfield, and Melanie Ashley; her great-grandchildren, Shawn, Jordan (Hannah), Cameron, Keira, Cody, and Briana; her great-great-grandchildren, Kylan, Wyatt, and Arabella; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mount Olive Cemetery Fund.
