Absent from the body, present with the Lord.
2 Cor. 5:8
Billy Guy Crocker, “Bill,” was proudly born and raised in Lawley, Alabama, to Guy A. and Carlie Hamric Crocker. He married Jean Hale in 1949, and together they lived in Bessemer, Midfield, Fairfield, and Alabaster.
Bill served in the Army, Air Corps, and National Guard. A WWII veteran, he loved his country. He retired from Liberty National Life Insurance at age 62 after more than 30 years of service.
He enjoyed golfing with his brothers, attending Alabama football games in the RV, and traveling with Miss Jean. He spent countless hours gardening, riding his lawn mower, and serving as the self-appointed neighborhood watch.
Bill loved to laugh. He always felt it was his job to make someone smile or laugh wherever he went, and he was good at it. He had a heart for helping others and was very generous. He cared deeply for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and passed his sense of humor down to them. He was always bluntly truthful with everyone, right up to his last days, and he never stopped entertaining. AaayOH!
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean H. Crocker, of 74 years; his parents, Guy and Carlie Crocker; his beloved daughter, Sandy Williams; brothers, Arlee Crocker (Iris) and Bobby Crocker (Lynne); sisters, Margie Hendrix (J.C.), Nora Williams (J.C.), Maureen Burnett (Sam), Judy Elliot (Ed), and Pat Pate (Tim); and special pets, Buddy and Miss Sweety.
He is survived by his son, Richard Crocker (Jenny); daughters, Kathy Huckestein and Beverly Wood; brothers, Jim Crocker (Joan), Joe Crocker (Margaret), and chosen brother Harvey Eddy; sister, Elsie Green (Bryant); 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and over 25 nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Nurse Jennifer Ragan, and to the entire staff at Memory Care Sta 3 for your love and kindness in caring for Billy; Atrium Floyd Cherokee Medical Center; and ACG Hospice, Dustin and Slayde.
Funeral service arrangements are currently being finalized. Service details will be announced at a later date once confirmed.
