

A chapel service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, Al 35901. Officiating the service will be Rev. Allen Ragan, Rev. Chris Ragan and Rev Allen Mancil. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden, Alabama.
Bobby was raised in Alabama City, where he built a life defined by hard work, kindness, and dedication to those he loved. Bobby was the proud owner of Black’s AC Units, where he worked tirelessly to help families afford reliable heating and cooling. He was known for his generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand, and for his ability to make others laugh. Above all, he deeply loved his family, who were the center of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Dean Black and Jean Talton Black; his brother, James “Buddy” Haney; and his grandmother, Ruby Brooks.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Jean Black; his children, Kelly (Nick) Wood, Bo (Jenn) Black, and Timothy (Olivia) Black; and his grandchildren, Gracie (Wes) Davis, Aaron Wood, James Wood, Kaylynn Black, Grant Morgan, Levi Black, Trey Black, and Crosby Black; great-grandchildren, Finnley Davis and Emberly Wood. He is also survived by his sister, Tammy Sheppard; his brothers, Steven Haney and Jerry “Boo” Black; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bo Black, Timothy Black, Nick Wood, Aaron Wood, James Wood, Grant Morgan, Trey Black, and Wes Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Levi Black and John Alexander.
The family extends a special thanks to John Alexander and the staff of Pro Health Home Health & Hospice of Gadsden, for their care and support.
