Carmen Rosa "Abuela" Quintero Alfaro

Carmen Rosa Quintero Alfaro, known to many as “Abuela”, went to be with our Heavenly Father this past Saturday, May 21, 2022. Born on December 15, 1919 in Morovis, Puerto Rico, she moved to Southside, Alabama, to live with her daughter (Ivonne Rivera) and son-in-law (Ramon Rivera) after hurricane Maria destroyed her beloved island of Puerto Rico on September of 2017.

She and her husband were entrepreneurs in various businesses in Puerto Rico. However, she was known to many for her poetry, jokes, and personality. She always looked at the bright side of things and loved her family dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carlos Ivan Alfaro, her sons Carlos Ivan Alfaro and Victor Manuel Alfaro, parents Angel Quintero and Francisca Alfaro as well as her siblings Angel Guillermo(Ana Delia), Maria(Rafael), Fanny(Federico), Sylvia(Tony), Laura (Joaquin), Rico(Lili) and Juan Luis. She is survived by her brother Dr. Emilio Quintero Alfaro(Elizabeth Noriega), children Carlos Roberto Alfaro(Nilsa), Ivonne Rivera(Ramon), daughter-in laws Rita Calderon and Miriam Monge, grandchildren Sylvette Alfaro(Luis), Carlos Jose Alfaro(Zaira), Carlos Ivan Alfaro(Nesh), Zahira Alfaro, Ritalyn Alfaro(Joselito), Ivonne Joiner(Richard), Carlos Roberto Alfaro(Ely), Franchesca Igou(Justin), Cristina Alfaro(Ileana), Karla Plam(Andrew), Carlos Xavier(Sandra), Frances Kademir Alfaro(Alex Soto), Ohmar Panet (Dilaila), Jose “Pepito” Ortiz (Yolanda) and great grandchildren Jose, Zamira, Ahiezer, Carlos Andrés, Julian, Andrea, Yaimar, Diego, Ariana, Carlos Roberto “Carlitos”, Bruce, Jean Carlos, Mariana, Caila, Aleanis, Lexis, Ellie, Easton, Vivian, and Victoria, along with many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been made in Puerto Rico at Ehret Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on June 2, 2022 and funeral on June 3, 2022.

She will be buried alongside the love of her life, Army Veteran, Carlos Iván Alfaro at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.
