Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September, 19, 2013 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Carol “Mer” Raines, 91, who passed away Monday, September 16, 2013. Rev. Lauil Thompson and Rev. Joey Jones will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mrs. Raines was born in Trion, GA but lived most of her life in Rainbow City, AL. She worked for the state Revenue Department in her earlier years. She devoted her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and homemaker. She was a member of Whorton’s Bend Baptist Church. She was a true Christian who loved her Lord.

Mrs. Raines was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Byron Raines; and daughter Lisa Carol Raines.

She is survived by her sons, Stan (Pam) Raines, and Keith (Sheila) Raines; grandchildren: Greg (Darcie) Raines, Zack (Bridget) Raines, Ashley (Chad) Lincoln, and Lindsey (Christian) Tucker; great-grandchildren: Grace Ann Raines, Sam Raines, Nolan Raines, Will Raines, Claire Lincoln, Allie Kate Lincoln, Molly Lincoln, Maddie Tucker, and Drew Tucker; special friend, Nita McLendon; and special friends from Wooland Place.

Pallbearers will be: Greg Raines, Zack Raines, Chad Lincoln, Christian Tucker, David Beddingfield, and Larry Beddingfield.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Valerie of Amedysis Hospice and Kelly of Woodland Place Assisted Living.

The family will accept friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
