

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mrs. Carroll Frances Crane, 75, of Gadsden, who passed away on December 19, 2010 Rev. David Denson will officiate with entombment service to follow at Forrest Mausoleum. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service directing.
Carroll was a Christian and always felt she was in God’s hands and will. She began her career in the medical field an 1954 at the Holy Name of Jesus Hospital and continued most of her life. She began working in the doctors’ office and after training for years, was licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator. In 1978, she started as administrator of Physicians Health Care Nursing Home and continued for 13 years. After brief employment as director at senior services at Baptist Memorial Hospital, she began working for Physicians Who Care and the Medical Society of Etowah County until her retirement in 2010. For five years she worked for her husband at Crane Office Equipment Company and later ran the first pet shop in Gadsden.
She was a member of Altrusa Club and avid member of the band boosters club for both Gadsden and Emma Sansom High Schools, a Red Cross volunteer, and spent many years working for Riverfest. She supported the Cancer Foundation and many other charities and always found joy in helping others in a quiet and simple way. Her hobbies included refinishing antiques, doing yard sales and just enjoying friends and above all loved life.
Carroll is survived by her sons, John (Rebecca) Crane, Gadsden, Stephen (Sarah) Crane, Pensacola, Fl; son-in-law, Jerry Stewart; grandchildren, Jason Crane, Jennifer Crane Marsh, Oliver Preston Crane, Henry Mitchell Crane, Tara (Curtis) Clark; great grandchildren, Merrick Rector; brother-in-law, Bill ( Rebecca) Crane; chosen daughters, Stacy Rose, Tracie Hightower and Candace McGwier.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnie P. Crane; daughter, Charlotte Ann Stewart; parents John and Josephine McGinty; sisters. Mary Frances and Mary Joseph McGinty.
Pallbearers will include: Dr. Bryan McGwier, Dr. Jon Keithan, Sr. Lowndes Harrison, Tom Quinn, Al Shumaker, Mike Guthery, Keith Varnon and Rusty Stephens.
The family will be accepting friends at Collier-Butler Tuesday December 21, 2010 from 6 pm until 8pm.
The family would like to extend there thanks for the services from Lawley Premier Hospice Care especially Brent Lawley and Nurse Kelly.
