Carroll is my second cousin. I met her for the first time two or three years ago, introduced by my second cousin and Carroll's first cousin Dianne Meagher, who grew up in Gadsden. 

I thought Carroll was wonderful and she and I expressed regret that we hadn't known each other earlier. (But thank goodness, we did get to meet!) She seemed to be so practical and sensible and down to earth, just admirable in every way I could see in the three times I saw her. I last saw her in October. 

I will miss her.

Carroll was such a unique person,with a great sense of humor.Every time I hear the words "little sis" I think of Carroll. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will shine in all the great things she has done for people.  Our deepest sympathy to all the family.

If we started with the A in the alphabet and went to Z there is a defination for CC at each letter, starting with amusing and amazing and ending with zest. She made us laugh, she had a zest for life. That kitchen table solved more problems than the government could dream of. Over a glass of tea, there wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed. We have cried together, laughed together, shared births(Joey) and deaths of loved ones(Johnnie P, Mom, Charlotte). She was always the same caring, loving, and ready to help. There will never be another CC. She touched so many lives in her 75 years. We all are richer for having had her be a part of ours. The memories on Dodge Lane and The Cabin will forever be in my heart as will CC. I love you all and share your hurt. I'll miss you CC. Heaven is a brighter place. I look forward to seeing you again. We met Carrol in 1958 when we were new residents of Gadsden and expecting our first child.  On our first visit to Dr. Gillespie we met Carroll and remained friends many years.  We cherish memories of being with she and Johnie P.  She was a wonderful person.  Our deepest sympathy to all the family.

  To say Carol was "One of a kind" is understatement. Her energy, willingness to "lend a hand" and organizational skills are widely recognized by those who knew her; as was her reliability and competence when dealing with tasks that needed doing. But I think those admirable traits take a backseat to her interpersonal qualities. Carol ALWAYS kept her word. I believe she would cut off an arm before betraying a confidence; which was why she was one of the few people I could and would share my innermost thoughts and opinions with; she was a person you could trust unreservedly. Though few who didn't know her well would credit it due to her gruff exterior, Carol was a deeply caring person. With friends she was always lending her support and emotional resources in difficult times even when she was experiencing her own personal problems. Her activities in finding shelter, food and financial security for hurricane Katrina victims and her creation of a Physcians Who Care "Christmas Gifts for Underprivileged Children" program are only a few examples among many that testify to her caring and loving spirit.
To friends and community, she will be sorely missed.

I met Carroll thru Charlotte who I worked with at GBI.  Carroll was welcoming and inclusive, striving to make all feel important.  If you were lucky enough to know her, you were important.  Take great comfort, Family and Friends, that she was met by Jesus, Charlotte, and Johnie P. as she crossed over to her sweet reward.  Life will be duller without her, but she has made us all better and stronger people by having her in our lives.  Rest well, Sweet Carroll,,,you have earned your Reward!

It's hard to understand way people are taken from us, but find comfort in knowing you were a special part of a well-lived life. Carroll was my boss and friend. I will miss her dearly.

Caroll and I first met after the Katrina Hurricane brought 1400 evacuees to our community.  What began as a rocky start became a great friendship and continued in the years following.  Carol was the first person I called when it seemed all other roads had closed for someone in distress.  She worked tirelessly to help those who were misfortunate and to the causes she loved.  We will miss you Carroll Crane, but we are much richer for knowing and working with you!

Carroll was a wonderful lady. She had a heart of gold and I was so blessed to have known her. She had so much personality and would keep you laughing and she made working with her so much fun. She was one in a million and will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all during this time and in the days to come.

We are going to miss our sweet neighbor and yard sale buddy.  It will never be the same on our street without Mrs. Crane.  She was a very special lady and we will miss her greatly.
