

Home going celebration will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Cary Wilson Hefner, 45, of Southside, who passed away quietly in his home May 27, 2015. Rev. Jack Campbell and Rev. Mike Hengle will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Hefner was an electrician for many years and enjoyed coaching baseball and football in his spare time, as he was a natural with teaching young children and enjoyed investing in their lives. He had an outgoing, upbeat personality and knew no stranger. He was a member of Parkway Community Church and a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was disabled for several years and his life revolved around his wife of 20 years and their three sons, all of whom he was so very proud.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Wilson Hefner.
Mr. Hefner is survived by his wife, Shay Self Hefner; children, John Hefner, Max Hefner and Zeke Hefner; mother, Elaine Hefner; brothers, Zac (Emily) Hefner and Nathan (Kristen) Hefner, Homewood; father and mother-in-law, Marvin and Gloria Self; brother and sister-in-law, David and Sue Mixson; nieces and nephews, Noah Hefner, Lilly Hefner, Maddie Mixson and Drew Mixson.
Pallbearers will be Adam Brown, Monte Morris, Wade Silvey, Glen Jackson, Blane Hefner, John Day, Jason Winningham, David Mixson, Derrick Downey, and Darren Downey.
The family will accept friends at the funeral home Friday, May 29, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
