He is survived by his wife Barbara Alverson; two daughters Shannon Alverson Morrison (David) and Jessica Alverson Tollison (Brad); three grandsons Braxton Lee Morrison, Luke Bradford Tollison, and Charles Lane Tollison; and a fourth grandson Layton Graham Tollison arriving in the fall. One sister Bettye Arnold; many loving nieces and nephews; and chosen family Gail and Ewell Brown (Patrick and Saralyn).
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Marie Alverson, brother-in-law J.D. Arnold, and Uncle W.F. Herren.
He was an active member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 48 from 1962 until 2000, but remained involved until the end of his life. He loved his Lord and church family (Fairview Baptist Church). He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished many friendships from the communities of both Gadsden and Ragland, Alabama. He shared a love of beekeeping, antique cars, and classic motorcycles.

Service will be Wednesday, June 27, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Williams and Brad Tollison officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30am until 12:30pm. Service will begin at 12:30pm. Graveside service immediately following at Ragland First United Methodist Cemetery with Douglas Ford officiating.
