Charles A. Foster

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2018 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Charles A. Foster, age 71, of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, February 12, 2018. Bro. Doyle Kerr will officiate. Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Cremation and Services will direct.

Mr. Foster retired from Rainbow City Utility Board after 23 years. After retirement he worked part time for several small water and sewer systems. Mr. Foster was a caring husband and father who made friends wherever he went. He loved car shows, working on his Falcon and taking care of his chickens, ducks, and his canine pal Gracie.

Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Gables Foster; father, Alton G Foster; sister, Marie Jean Nolin; brother-in-law, Oscar Nolin; and grandson, Christopher Drake Foster.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Foster; daughters, Teresa (Ben) Stewart, and Melisa (John) Langley; grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Dustin (Kelliamber) Stewart, Shalane Brooks, Lathan Stewart, and Ella Foster; great-grandchildren, Caden Brooks, Emma Stewart, Avaya Stewart, Oaklan Stewart, and Cambry Stewart; sisters-in-law, Mary (Hoyt) McCain, Debbie (Bradley) Kerr, and Joannie (Mark) Patterson; brother-in-law, Charles Johnson, numerus nieces, nephews, and cousins; and very special canine baby, Gracie.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Staff Sargent Dustin Stewart, and Lathan Stewart; nephews, Timothy McCain and Jason McCain; and friends, Joe Glass and Bill Manning.

Honorary pallbearers are West Etowah Water Authority Employees and Board members; NE Etowah Water Co-Op Employees and Board members; special friend, Sonny Cooper; and all of his Rainbow Cruiser Car Club buddies.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; Children’s Hospital Birmingham or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.

Special thanks to Coates Bend Fire Department; 3rd, 4th, and 7th floor nurses at Riverview Regional Medical Center; Dr. K.J. Shaw and staff; Dr. John Keithan and staff; Dr. William R. Carroll and staff; Kirkland Clinic; Dr. Sharon Spencer and staff; Tumor Institute at UAB, Dr. Sinha; Dr. Just; Dr. Patel; and to all of the caregivers from Amedisys Home Health, who took such good care of him.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
