Chester Jackson “Jay” Carter, Jr., 64, of Rainbow City went peacefully to be with the Lord Sunday, May 2, 2021. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Hopewell Cemetery, Ashville with Rev. Andrew Hicks and Rev. Newman Voss officiating.
Services are under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.
Jay was born January 4, 1957 to Chester Jackson Carter, Sr. and Inell Green Carter, who both preceded him in death.
He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 40 years of service. He loved and served the Lord with all his heart and attended Victory Christian Center.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Debora Rich Carter; devoted daughter, Kendall Marker and husband, David; his grandchildren who were the light of his life, Carley Jay and Barrett Jackson; sister, Loretta Wimpee; brother, Jack Carter and wife Marilyn; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other extended family and friends that he loved very much.
Pallbearers will be; Carl Boyle, Corey Carter, Steve Carter, Andrew Bedwell, Brandon Sewell and Jeff Bedwell.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to your local church or any favorite charity in Jay’s memory.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at St. Vincent’s East.
Following the graveside service there will be a celebration of life at the Carter Home.
