

services honoring her life will be held at Collier Butler Funeral Home
Chapel in Gadsden at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30. The Reverends Sherri
Reynolds and Terry Greer will conduct the service with burial to follow at
Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery in Springville.
Christine was born and raised in Randolph County, Alabama. She spent the
majority of her life in Gadsden. Upon finishing high school, she worked at
Goodyear before joining the Navy at age 21. Christine spent two years in the
Navy, serving in the W.A.V.E.S. program and was stationed in New Orleans.
After the Navy, she met and married John Gordon Burttram. They shared 58
wonderful years together before his passing in 2010. During that time she
worked at Litchfield High School as a secretary from 1965 through 1984. She
was a longtime member of Central Methodist Church in Gadsden, which
ultimately became Christ Central United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Burttram was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Burttram, Sr.
and her daughter-in-law, Marsha Morrison Burttram.
She is survived by her sons, John Jr. (Patricia) Burttram and Curtis
Burttram; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Davis, Matthew (Emily)
Burttram and Lindsey (Allen) Beck; great-grandchild, Luke Davis; sister,
Mary Mann; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Christine will long be remembered for her friendly nature, her kindness and
hospitality, and her servant's heart. She loved to cook for family and
friends. Among her specialties were, birthday cakes, pound cakes, and
teacakes. Christine was an avid Alabama and Atlanta Braves fan and her
favorite player was Brian McCann. She left a legacy of love for all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Johnny Wilborn
and to the many caregivers at Gadsden Regional Hospital, Gadsden Health and
Rehab, and Lawley Hospice as well as special friend, Connie Walden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to
Christ Central United Methodist Church.
The family will be receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 29 at Collier Butler.
