Clyde F. Pentecost

Funeral Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Clyde F. Pentecost, 94, Southside who passed away Friday, May 18, 2012. Rev. Jerry Rhea and Rev. Bob Thornton will officiate with burial at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Directing.

Mr. Pentecost was born May 12, 1918 to Ernest and Nannie Pentecost andwas a longtime resident of Southside. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the U S Air Force serving in Tinyan, Sipan and Guam. Mr. Pentecost was a retired mail carrier and had driven the school bus for the Southside School System in the 1960’s. He enjoyed riding horses, working horses and mules, gardening, and farming. He continued to bush hog until he was in his early 90’s.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Trixie Lee Pentecost, infant son, Rhett Francis Pentecost, parents, Ernest and Nanny Pentecost, sisters, Effie Akridge, Geneva Smith and brother, Barney Pentecost.

Survivors include his son, Dennis (Paula) Pentecost, Southside

Grandchildren: Dana Pentecost, Denise (Jeff) Hamm, Tim Pentecost, Glenn (Sandy) Pentecost and William (Jamie) Pentecost

Great-Grandchildren: Kyle Routon, Madison (Michael) Moore, Whitney and Autumn Hamm, Garrett and Kaleb Pentecost, Lane Pentecost, Grayson Pentecost and Brayden Pentecost.

Step-Grandchildren: Rick Parks and Lori (Joey) Newton

Step-Great-Grandchildren: Terry Stephens, Shae Stephens, Brandi (Josh) Brown and Blake Morgan

Brothers and Sisters: Jewell Sapp, Ernestine Vinson, J.C. (Otho) Pentecost, Pete Pentecost, Hugh (Barbara) Pentecost, Billie Jo (Graham) Brown and Tommy (Linda) Pentecost.

Numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Glenn Pentecost, William Pentecost, Tim Pentecost, great grandsons, Kyle Routon, Garrett Pentecost and Lane Pentecost.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jeff Hamm, Chris Snyder, Larry Smith and Ronnie Phillips.

The family extends thanks to very special care giver, Darlene Reed, Dr. William Harrison and staff, Dr. Steve Sanders and staff.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.Monday evening at the funeral home.
