Southside, Alabama
November 11, 1952 - July 28, 2025
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Cynthia Mae Doran on July 28, 2025 at the Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden, Alabama. She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on November 11, 1952, the second daughter of Thomas and Susan Smith.
She is survived by; her husband, Paul Doran, her granddaughter, Adriana Doran and grandson, Jameson Doran; siblings Marcia Smith (John Campbell), Valerie Cunningham and Thomas Smith; sister-in -law Sherry Doran and her son Isaac and sister-in-law, Joann Doran; her niece Ashley Cunningham, niece Holly Cunningham and her children Anna and Fletcher Lockerby.
Cynthia was predeceased by her son, Evan Doran, parents, Thomas and Susan Smith, Paul’s parents, Arthur and Muriel Doran, sister-in-law, Charlotte Smith and brother-in-law, Michael Doran.
Cynthia had a deep love for her family even the ones who didn’t live close by. This was evidenced by the times she frequently went through her precious family photos. She enjoyed FaceTime calls and catching up on the family news.
She loved life and especially being outdoors. Cynthia was a strong cyclist and was known to clock 4000 miles a year. As well, she was an avid sailor and was on the women’s sailing team for 5 years! She was a keen, knowledgeable gardener and loved to see her plants growing and producing.
Cynthia was a marvellous cook and great at giving instructions on meal preparation when she wasn’t able to do it herself. She loved shopping from her laptop and had many precious collections of dishes and items that were special to her.
Despite living with rapidly progressing MS, she never complained and took every new issue in stride. She had a way of keeping things simple and calming a stressful situation. She made life easy and wonderful for the people around her. After the passing of her son, she and Paul brought up their granddaughter, Adriana, in a loving home and had frequent extended visits from their grandson Jameson. They both benefited from the love she had to share.
Cynthia will be dearly missed and in our hearts forever. 💞
