
Funeral Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. David Wayne Helms, 62, Gadsden who passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Rev. Donald Ray Johnson and Rev. Harold Epperson will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mr. Helms was a member and deacon at Oak Park Baptist Church. He was a veteran serving in the U S Navy during the Vietnam Era.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David A. and Helen Ruth Helms, son, Jerald Helms and sister, Connie Lynn Helms.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Lou Helms, daughter, Jackie Smedley and husband Craig, grandchildren, Nicole, Emily and Sarah Lowe, Justin Smedley and Cameron Helms, mother-in-law, Sandy Enriquez, sister-in-law, Tess Enriquez, Italy, several aunts and cousins.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of the MICU and ER Department at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Friends may visit with the family from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
