A skilled tradesman, Bell began a long career in his native Alabama, later working as a millwright for Ford Motor Company, Atlanta Assembly Plant, for 29 years. Upon retirement from Ford in 2000, he returned to Alabama, where he enjoyed fishing at his lakeside home. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of McCarty Masonic Lodge, Mt Olive, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by sons Charles Bell and Randall Bell, and grandson Andrew Bell.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Tana Sims Bell, daughter Deborah Bell (Jim) Barnes, sons Delbert (Debbie) Bell, Jr. and Michael (Anna) Bell, grandson Chris (Geslia) Gill, granddaughters Amanda Bell and Caroline Bell, great grandchildren Reshelle Gill and Garrett Gill, sisters-in-law Peggy Sims, Mary Bell and Marie Bell.
Visitation for family and friends will be between 3 and 5, Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901. 256-543-2140
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to organizations supporting cancer patients and their families or cancer research.
