Delores Moore Shultz

Delores was born in Texas in 1939 and spent the majority of her life in Gadsden, Alabama, where she built a life centered around faith, family, and service to others. In her later years, she lived in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by the love and care of her granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents- Pat and Clara Moore; her husbands- Edgar Norton and George Shultz; her daughter, Laura Norton Harwood; and her siblings- Patricia Treadway, Bill Moore, and Barbara Hartman.

Delores is survived by her loving grandchildren: Kevin (Alicean), Holly (Zack), Heather (Matthew), and Chase (Abby). She was a proud and devoted great-grandmother to Carter, Lexie, Blake, Madelyn, Laura Claire, Emelia, Zeke, and Lincoln. She is also survived by her sister-Rosa Statom; and brothers Joe and Jerry Moore; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A dedicated and compassionate nurse, Delores faithfully served her community at Holy Name of Jesus Hospital and Riverview Medical Center. Her life’s work reflected her servant’s heart and her deep care for others.

Delores was a longtime and faithful member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Gadsden, Alabama. Her love for Jesus was evident in the way she lived her life—with strong faith, unwavering devotion, and a heart full of kindness.

She will be remembered as loving, kind, and deeply devoted to her family. She had a sassy spirit, a stubborn strength, and a presence that brought comfort and joy to those around her. Her family will always treasure her chocolate chip cookies, her chicken and dumplings, and the many memories made around her table.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at The Emberly in Fort Worth, Texas, for the compassion, dignity, and loving care they provided to Delores in her final days. Their kindness and support will always be remembered.

Delores was truly precious to her family, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden, Alabama, on Thursday May 7th from 5:00-7:00 pm, with a graveside service to follow at Forrest Cemetery on Friday May 8th at 9:30 am.
