

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Donald E. Parsons, 81, of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, August 26, 2013. Rev. Jay Stewart will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Parsons was educated in Gadsden City schools and graduated from Gadsden High school in 1949. He served 3 years in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the SeaBee’s. He worked in Alaska as a Brick mason and was retired from brick masonry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.F and Maude Parsons; brothers, Leonard Parsons, Dewey Parsons; sisters, Kathryn Williams, Edith Fatherloss and Lucille Whittle.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Delores P. Parsons; wife of 24 years and mother of his children, Martha P. Davis; son, John D. (Mitzi) Parsons, of Tuscaloosa; daughter, Betsy (Stephen, Sr.) Davis, of Brookhaven, MS; step-sons, Robert (Janice) Pritchett, Jr., of Birmingham, AL, Johnny Pritchett, of Gadsden, AL; 7 grandchildren, Stephen (Quinn) Davis, Jr., of Mobile, AL, John Martin (Brooke) Davis, of Mobile AL, Daniel Davis, of Brookhaven, MS, Cassie (Tim) Bruer, of Cullman, AL, Kristi (Simon) Salemo, of New Jersey, Robert (LeighAnne) Pritchet, of Springville, AL, David (Amy) Pritchett, of Odenville, AL; 10 great-grandchildren; one surviving sister, Tommie Lee Cowan, of California; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Charles Brackett, Stephen Davis, Sr., Robert Pritchett, David Pritchett, Tim Bruer, John Martin Davis, and Daniel Davis.

The family will accept friends from 12:00-2:00 Thursday prior to the service.
