

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Doris Gray Yother Buchanan, 82, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015. Brother Dave Roberts will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
After graduating from Emma Samson High School, Doris married and moved to Huntsville, Ala., where she raised three children and worked in banking, retiring as a branch manager. After divorce, she returned to her hometown of Gadsden and married Roy Buchanan. She was a generous person who saw good in all people and never met a stranger. Doris loved to travel and work in her yard, receiving the City of Gadsden's Beautification Award several years in a row. She loved her cats, Ruby and Mr. Cat.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Buchanan, Leon Yother; parents, Julius and Ada Gray; brothers J.T. Gray, Howard Gray and Kenneth Gray.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Tom) Monroe; sons, Tom (Monica) Yother and Greg Yother; grandchildren, Cory, Zack, Evan and Erin; daughter-in-law, Michele Cassidy Yother; nieces and nephews, Carolyn Gray Pierce, Kenny (Vickey) Gray, Kay (Kenny) Gray Hinson, Howard Jr. (Vicky Lynn) Gray; great-niece, Sabrina Hinson; and close friend, Charlie Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Etowah Humane Society.
