Doris Eda Lou Chapman, born November 26, 1931, passed peacefully on November 13, 2025, with her loving family by her side. A devoted Christian, cherished sister, aunt, and friend, Doris lived a life filled with faith, family, and simple joys that brought her great happiness.
A graveside visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00–10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m., all at Rainbow Memorial Gardens with Brooks Boyd officiating.
Doris found joy in the everyday moments of life. She loved gathering around the table to play Rook, a game that filled her home with laughter and friendly competition. One of her greatest comforts was visiting the graves of her beloved husband, Rex, and her son, Terry, a daily act of devotion that reflected her deep love and enduring connection to her family. She was also a faithful member of her church, where she adored worship, cherished the children, and lived out her Christian faith with warmth and sincerity. And, in true country fashion, she never passed up the chance to enjoy some good ol’ country ham and chicken.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Solley; her son, Terry Chapman; her husband, Rex Chapman; and her brothers Travis Solley, Ronnie Solley, and Lavon Solley.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Johnson, and her brother, Ray Solley, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit.
The family would like to extend special gratitude to Betty Cornelius, her caretaker and dear friend, for her unwavering compassion and care. Her gentleness, patience, and unwavering dedication brought comfort to Doris in her final years, and her presence filled Doris’s days with warmth and genuine friendship. Betty’s kindness was a gift, not just to Doris, but to the entire family and her devotion will forever be remembered with heartfelt appreciation. They also give heartfelt thanks to her best friend, Fred Hobart, for his love, kindness, and the time he devoted to Doris, which brought her tremendous comfort and joy.
Doris leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and the quiet strength that defined her life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
