Doris Emerson Corbin was born May 6, 1929 and peacefully passed away on July 16, 2019. She was born in Alabama City and raised her family in Gadsden. Mrs. Corbin is preceded in death by her husband Vernon Clifton Corbin, father James T. Emerson, mother Mary Emerson, Stepmother Louise Emerson, sisters Eula Mae Holland and Virginia Mackey, and her very special niece Patsy Mayo. Her granddaughter Danielle Leigh Dunn greeted her as she entered Heaven.
Mrs. Corbin is survived by her son Scott (Anita) Corbin of Talladega; her daughter Lisa (Terry) Dunn of Griffin, GA; grandsons Stephen (Mackenzie) Corbin of Jacksonville, AL, and David Corbin of Talladega; and several nieces and nephews.
She graduated of Emma Samson High school in 1947. She and Clifton married in 1950 and she became a homemaker and they began their family.
He joys in life were her family, friends, and her church family.
Visitation will be at Collier Butler Funeral Home, Gadsden, on Friday from 1pm until 3pm. The funeral service will be at 3pm in Collier Butler Chapel, with a committal service immediately following at Rainbow Memorial Garden. Pastor Justin Milliken will officiate with an eulogy by Dr. Barry McCleney.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Corbin, David Corbin, Terry Dunn, Homer Smith, Joshua Milliken, and Jeff Conaway.
Keith Mayo is an Honorary Pallbearer.
The family would like to thank Meadow View Medical Center for caring for our Mom. They would also like to thank all of the staff of Alacare Home Health and Hospice of Pell City, with a very special thank you to Lindsey Cartrette of Alacare who gave so much love and care to not only our Mom, but to the entire family.
