
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Dorothy Johnson Browning, 77, who was welcomed in Heaven on January 1, 2013. Burial will be at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Dorothy was born on November 17, 1935. She was an avid reader, often spending time at the library. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Her favorite TV shows were Family Feud, sci-fi and horror movies. She began her career at Doyle’s Café followed by General Time Corporation and Westclox before finishing her career at EMCO Industries.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Alpha Hartbarger Johnson and Ira Johnson; brother: Edmond D. Johnson; and sisters: Margret Thacker and Jane Thornhill.
She is survived by her son: Jimmy Ray Browning; daughter: Tammy G. Johnson; sister: Frankie Thompson; grandchildren: Amanda (Jason) Browning Coleman, Luke Zimmerman, and Emily Browning; great-grandchild: Evelyn Coleman; nephews: James Calvert, David Thornhill, Mike (Becky) Thornhill, Willie Thornhill, Ronnie (Roz) Thacker, Royce (Ellie) Thacker Thornhill, and J.R. (Kim) Thomson; nieces: Carol Gregory, Judy (James) Thornson, Janice (Johnny) Baker, and Joan (Chris) Martakis.
Visitation will be Friday, January 4, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.
