

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Dorothy Jean Moore Rains, Silver Creek, GA formerly of Gadsden who passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017. Rev. Phillip Winningham will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
At the age of 19 “Dot” moved to Gadsden, Al where she was employed as a bookkeeper at A & H Rosenberg, after five years she worked for 32 years as a civil servant at Gadsden Air Depot, Fort McClellan, AL and US Army Reserve, Gadsden, AL. Following her retirement “Dot” worked for Fairview Baptist Church, Gadsden, as a bookkeeper and treasurer for 18 years. Upon her retirement at age 80, she moved to Floyd County, GA.
Mrs. Rains was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruby Sanders Moore; her husband, Herbert Rains and son, Patrick Rains.
Mrs. Rains is survived by her sons, Herbert K. (Gerrice) Rains, Piedmont, AL and Rex A. (Pam) Rains, Silver Creek, GA; grandchildren, Kelly A. Rains, Rome, GA; Austin (Carabeth) Rains and Joshua Rains, all of Floyd County, GA; great grandchildren, Issac, Mary and Luke; sister, Pamela Moore (Bob) Lovely, Surprise, AZ and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Austin Rains, Joshua Rains, Kenneth Johnson, Richard Sisco, Melvin Slocum, Boyd Smart, Clyde Day and Charles Copeland.
_Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the 310th Chemical Unit.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and on Wednesday morning from 10 am until the hour of service.
