A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Edward R. "Rusty" Ward, 63, of Gadsden, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Rusty graduated from Gardendale High School in 1968. He then attended and completed the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Apprenticeship Program in 1973 (Local 136). He traveled all over the country working union jobs until his retirement to Gadsden in 2010. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren those pastimes.
Rusty leaves behind two children, Winter Montgomery and Thomas Ward; two stepchildren, Angie Freitag and Tim Junkins; brother, Kenny Ward; seven grandchildren; special niece, Madison Joy; numerous other nieces and nephews; special friends, Glenn and Cindy Cornelius and Chuck Richardson; and hundreds of IBEW Brothers.
Special thanks to Dr. Christopher Bailey and the staff of Gadsden Regional Hospice for the compassionate care they provided during Rusty's final days.
