Eddie was a lifelong resident of Hokes Bluff. We would like to share some things about Eddie with you. He was very much loved by many who got to know his humble, caring and sweet spirit at Hokes Bluff First Baptist Church, where he was a very active member. He was always there to help with any work project and was on the ramp building team. He did the announcement sign weekly whether in the rain, cold or hot sun... a job nobody wanted to do. He brought homemade cookies to the Sunday morning break area..., and had 2 gallon buckets there this past Sunday. He tithed of what small income that he had. He was a loving, all giving man who also had a humorous disposition. His favorite expression was "I 'preciate you". He thought only of others, never of himself. A wonderful brother to remember. He hand cracked and cleaned pecans just to give them away and that's what he did with his garden. Heaven is one light brighter since his passing. He will be remembered for his generous, loving spirit.
Mr. Whorton was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Ouida Barnes Whorton; and brother, Thomas S. Whorton.
He is survived by his sister, Lucy (Dan) Hemrick; and aunts, Mary Jane Whorton and Carolyn (Judson) Whorton; nephew, Matt (Rebecca) Hemrick; great-nephew and niece, Henry and Carlisle; niece, Jennifer Hemrick (Dustin) Tanner; and great-nephew and niece, Saylor and Parks.
Pallbearers will be, Dan and Mark Hemrick, Vince Higdon, Brandon Barnes, Matt Hemrick, Johnny Wells, Walt Burk, George Whorton and Larry Wells.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.

Eddie was continually busy gardening, canning and caring for everyone, especially his loving aunt, Mary Jane Whorton.
