

Funeral Services for Mrs. Fannie Griffith Herring will be Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. The Revs. Darrell Brown and Vann Lockridge will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service will direct.
Mrs. Herring was born November 11, 1921 in Etowah County. She was married to J.W. Herring for 70 years. They were charter and faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Mattie Griffith, husband, Julius (J.W.) Herring, two brothers, Henry and Frank Griffith, five sisters, Daisy Slay, Margaret Mullins, Eddie C. Prickett, Dovie Becraft and her twin Laura Griffith.
Mrs. Herring is survived by 4 children, Julia (Philip) Guinn, Laura (Randy) Allen, Cary (Carol) Herring and David (Janet) Herring, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Herring and Mary Ruth Rains, eleven grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Herring was a dynamic Christian and influenced every person she met in a positive manner. She always cared more about other people than she did herself. She truly demonstrated God’s love on a daily basis. During her years of illness, her favorite saying was “Let Go and Let God”. She lived by faith, giving glory to Jesus for his marvelous grace.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeff and Jay Allen, Lee and Jake Herring, J.P. and Steven Guinn.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church or The American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
