
A funeral service honoring the life of Frances Thompson Hamilton, age 84, Gadsden, will be held at Bellevue United Methodist Church on June 5. The family will accept friends from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at 4:00 P.M. The Reverends Taylor Gallman and Richard Martin will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service directing.
Born January 18, 1927 in Oneonta, Alabama to William Arthur and Ellen Bell Thompson, Mrs. Hamilton was a homemaker who excelled as a seamstress, quilter and artist. She taught quilting classes in Gadsden and Evergreen, Alabama. She and her husband Dale raised their children in Huntsville and moved in 1987 to Gadsden, where they were active members of Bellevue United Methodist Church. She passed away at home on June 3, surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her sons Bruce (Ellen) Hamilton of Birmingham, Randy (Chris) Hamilton of Atlanta, daughter Amy (Patrick) Brown of Gadsden, grandchildren Allison, Michael, Spencer, Drew, and Kelsey Hamilton, Adam and Olivia Johnson, Erin (Phillip) Cude, and Micah Brown, great granddaughter Harper Amelia Cude, sisters Caroline Reeves and Betty Gail Roper and many dear friends, including members of Bellevue United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hamilton is preceded in death by her husband, Dale, parents and remaining siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bellevue United Methodist Church Building Fund. The family thanks the 8th floor staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center and Alacare Hospice along with her sitters, Louellen Macgruder and Mary Sewell for their care and concern.
