

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Frank Thompson, 62, of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, August 3, 2015. Rev. Johnny Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Frank was a longtime resident of Gadsden. He was an active member of the Alabama Softball Association, where he served as an Umpire for 25 years. He retired from Kmart after 30 years of loyal service; he worked at the East Gadsden and Rainbow City locations. He was an avid and die-hard Auburn Football fan. Frank was a 1971 graduate of Emma Samson High School, where he was a member of the marching band. Frank always had a love for music. He was a member of the Eleventh Hour Unlimited gospel group, who recorded several albums. Throughout the years, he also played with other musical groups. He was very blessed with the talent to play multiple instruments. He was member of Gadsden Christian Fellowship and was involved with the music ministry there.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Thrasher Thompson; daughter, Crystal (P.J.) Loy; son, Jeff (Karen) Thompson; and granddaughters, Emory and Amelia Thompson.
Pallbearers will be P.J. Loy, Michael Ezzell, Dewayne Hare, Bill Ross, Gary Jones, Terry Southern, Harold Laney, and Richard Thrasher.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association

The family will accept friends Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
