In his early years he worked as an electrician for Republic Steel and Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He retired from Goodyear. He was a member of the Alabama Air National Guard and Air Force for over 42 years. He was a Senior Master Sergeant (SMSGT) when he left the Guard and Reserve.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Perry; his daughters Victoria (John) Hanlon and Laura Fulmer; and 4 grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew, Sean and Eva. Garry is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Theophilus & Lola Mae Posey Perry
He had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He had many interests. He had his private pilots license. He loved a good project: building clocks and cabinets as well as many other things. He loved bird watching and gardening.
He was most proud of his military service and his grandkids. In the military he had many deployments to locations such as Korea, Panama, and Iraq in operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
He enjoyed having grandkids, always helping them with projects, teaching them about fishing and how to build things.
Even though he has an identical twin brother Jerry…he was one of a kind.
