

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday-February 12, 2010 for George H. Geer, of Gadsden who went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday-February 10, 2010. Revs. John Screws and Joey Jones will officiate with burial at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Directing.
Mr. Geer was born on March 19, 1925 in Etowah County to John Pierce Geer and Carrie Mae Geer. He was a member of Whortons Bend Baptist Church, Dwight Masonic Lodge. He served on the Etowah County Personell Board, Whortons Bend Water Board and Alabama State Electrical Contractors Board. He retired in 1998 after 45 years of service as the Owner-Operator of Temple Electric Company. Mr. Geer was very active with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and in the early 1960’s was appointed by Gov. George Wallace as one of the first auxillary state troopers and in 1980 was named Deputy Sheriff of the year. Mr. Geer was a very avid sportsman, outdoorsman and enjoyed time spent on his farm. He was preceded death by his wife, Emma Gene Geer
Survivors include his son, George David Geer and wife, Paulette Jones Geer, Gadsden, granddaughters, Kris Geer (Taylor) Weeks, Gadsden and Jessica Paige Geer, Birmingham, great granddaughter, Anna Claire Weeks, brother, Charles R. Geer, Portland Oregon, special nieces and nephew, Charles G. Geer and Christina Geer, Elizabeth Ashley Royer, Paulette Ashley, Claire Northcutt, Jack Roberson, Natlie Roberson, Amanda Jones, Brian Driskell and Ginger Driskell Watts, special friends, Charles and Gwen Morton, Johnny and Vickie Grant, Karen and Todd Entrekin, In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Whortons Bend Baptist Church
Pallbearers will be: Randy Jones, Vance Roberson, Todd Entrekin, Johnny Grant, Mike Jones, Taylor Weeks, Brian Driskell and Gary Laird
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Stevens Sunday School Class and Employees of Temple Electric Company.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.
Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home
