passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
He was born to parents William Thomas Wyrosdick and Anna Brozie Wyrosdick, on January 5, 1938 in Montgomery, AL.
George met Betty in 1953. These childhood sweethearts were married in 1955 in Montgomery, AL. When mom passed away they had just celebrated 65 years of marriage and together they raised 2 children: Mark and Stacy.
Most knew him as “Brother Wy” and “Pa”. He served in the US Army, was a Business Owner, worked as a contractor overseas, and of course as a Bishop/Pastor and Mentor to many. He loved life, loved to laugh, but most of all loved God, his Family, and friends. He will always be remembered for his love of singing in his deep baritone voice and shocking you in church with crazy antics.
George is survived by his daughter Stacy DeVoe (Mel); Starlett Wyrosdick, Daughter-in-Law; Andy Wyrosdick (Julie), Grandson; Desiree Simmons (Jason), Granddaughter; Caylie Yarborough, Granddaughter; and Cameron Yarborough, Grandson.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Wyrosdick, and his son, Mark Wyrosdick. George is absolutely walking the streets of Gold and visiting with all the family and friends that went before him. Telling jokes and singing, no doubt.
Pallbearer’s will be Grandsons - Andy Wyrosdick, Cameron Yarborough, and Jason Simmons; Great-Nephews Jason Counts, Josh Barrow, and Wesley Thornton.
The family has entrusted Collier-Butler Funeral Home with the arrangements. The viewing is scheduled for Friday, January 27th from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, and Saturday, January 28th from 11:30am-12:30pm.
