Gerald Don Parker, age 88, passed away surrounded by love on August 2, 2021. Visitation will be held Friday, August 6, beginning at 1:00pm at Collier Butler Funeral Home, followed by funeral services beginning at 2:00. Burial services will commence at Crestwood Cemetery.
Don was born on July 31, 1933 in Etowah County, Alabama, to James “Jim” and Mae Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Sally, Earl, Jean, and Cliff, as well as the love of his life of 59 years, Laura Almeda Patton. Friends and family alike witnessed how Don and Laura had the most beautiful, classic love story. They are well known for their admiration and support of all things Emma Sansom and Auburn. Every day for the past three years, Don longed for the opportunity to see Laura once again. Today, our family is celebrating their joyous reunion.
Don spent his entire professional career working in the insurance industry and loved helping people all across Etowah County. Most of all, he loved God, his church, his family and friends with his whole heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Steve) Van Pelt and son, Tim (Tina) Parker. His 5 grandchildren are Erin (Chris) Jenkins, Lauren (Joe) Cagle, Alyssa (Corey) Sellers, Corbin (Paige) Parker, and Kyle Parker.
