A celebration of life will be at 2:00 .m. Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Tabernacle Church with military honors for Gerald David Hickman, age 90, of Gadsden who entered heaven’s gates Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Pastor Tommy Marshall and Dr. Roger Beshears will officiate. Visitation will precede the service from 12 pm until 2 p.m. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge.
Gerald retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with appx 25 years of service. He was a member of the Tabernacle Church and a veteran of the U S Navy. Gerald was an antique car enthusiast, a member of the Rainbow City Hot Rod Club, enjoyed setting his cars on exhibit at First Friday and was an Eagle Scout.
Preceding him in death was his parents, George and Lillie Mae Hickman; daughter, Tammy Hickman; mother and father-in-law, Benny and Marie Steward and special cousin, Bill Wilson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilee Steward Hickman; brother, Douglas (Connie) Hickman; brother and sister-in-law, Benny (Suzette) Steward; nieces, Laura Walden, Mary Dollar, Kimberly (Josh) Holmes, Katy (Fiancé, James Robinson) McGowan and Tara Powell; great nieces, Allie Walden and Morgan Dollar; special cousin, Tim and Patsy Hollingsworth and family; fur babies, Max, Harry, Olive, Lucy, Stella, Alexander and Milo, adopted family member, Karen Gritzmacher and special friend, Randy Harris.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Pam Baker, RN, Jada Morgan, CNA and other staff with Gentiva Hospice.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Gerald's memory to The Tabernacle Homeless Ministry, 1301 So 11th Street, Gadsden, AL 35904.
