
Funeral Services for Mrs. Gertrude B. Gilchrist, 88, of Hokes Bluff, will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel in Gadsden. Reverend Bill Parker will officiate with burial to follow at Young’s Chapel Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gilchrist is preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Bill” Gilchrist; parents, Frank and Mary Machacek; brothers, Frankie Machacek and Bill Machacek; and a sister, Georgie Davis.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Jimmy) Usry of Hokes Bluff; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Shannon (Shahzad) Rasool, Taybor, Miriam and Marea all of Hokes Bluff, Kevin (Alexis) Usry, Jackson and Ava all of Hoover, and Scott Usry of Hokes Bluff; sisters, Edith Davidson of Temple, TX, Dorothy (Arthur)Pala of Granger, TX, Mary (Earl) Soudelier of Gatesville, TX; Sister-in-laws, Berniece Machacek of Georgetown, TX, Mary Lee Machacek of Houston, TX, Nelda Dyer of Hokes Bluff, and Johnnie Mae Studdard of Gadsden; special people, Nita and Johnny Lloyd of Roundrock, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Special thanks to Dr. Steve Sanders, Dr. Asif Kaleem, SICU and 6th floor staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, and Amedisys Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the services on Friday at Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services in Gadsden.
