Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at 12:30 p.m., at Collier-Butler chapel for Mr. Glenn Dean Player, 69, of Gadsden, who passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side at Grandview Medical Center, in Birmingham, Ala., on Dec. 10, 2016. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Boaz, Ala. with the Rev. Gary Williams officiating. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.He was born Nov. 2, 1947, to the late Woodrow and Vernell Player. Glenn graduated from Emma Sansom High School in 1966. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served from 1968 to 1969. Mr. Player retired from a 39-year career with Goodyear Tire Company in 2010.He was preceded in death by his brother, Eric Player.He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie Diane Player; daughter, Tonya (David) Player Fowlkes; granddaughter, Cali; sister, Shirley (Pat) Thomas; nephews, Tony Thomas, Jon Player; and nieces, Jackie Goode and Erica Player.The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service. -
