Gwynne N Coker

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Collier-Butler Chapel for our beloved mother and grandmother, Gwynne Newberry Coker, 79, of Gadsden, who passed from her earthly home to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, on her 60th wedding anniversary to our beloved daddy. The Rev. Frank Samuels will officiate with burial at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing. Mrs. Coker loved the Lord and was a member of College Heights Baptist Church and attended various churches with her children. She attended the University of Alabama, was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, an avid Alabama fan and was the owner/operator of Newberry Antiques. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry W. Coker; grandson, Joseph Wade Coker; and parents, T.C. and Gertrude Newberry. Survivors include her children, Tommy Coker, Shelley Hale, Johnny Coker, Jeffery (Deborah) Coker, Margaret (Lee) Johnson and Dixie (Art) Ferguson; grandchildren, Andrea (Nathan) Gatlin, Angela (Eric) Carroll, Jason (Emily) Coker, Lucy Coker, Beth (Olen) Warren, Scott (Lauren) Johnson, Matt (Stephanie) Johnson, Matthew (Michelle) Johnson, Chris Johnson, Kevin (Brittney) Johnson, Chad Ferguson and Emilie Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Wesley, Trevor, Caleb, Jaidyn, Jared, Tyler, Cameron, Cobi, Ashlyn, Makenzie, Braxton, Sarah, Nathaly, Katie, Jake and Kolby. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason, Matthew, Chris, Kevin, Chad and Matt. The family will accept flowers, or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Coker's memory. The family would like to express their love and appreciation for the loving care given by our sister-in-law. Deborah Coker. Thanks also to Dr. Akisanya, Alacare Hospice, especially her nurse Teresa and CNA Crystal, Fellowship friends from Southside Baptist Church and McCauley's Chapel Church.
