Mr. Harold Alloys “Big Daddy” Green, 97, of Rainbow City went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 17, 2018. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at New Season Assembly of God, Southside with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Rev. Tim Grimes. Rev. Darryl Ballew and Bro. Charlie Pitts will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mr. Green was born in Corbin, Kentucky and came to Gadsden at age 8. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the U S Army. He fought in the battle of Bloody Selerno, Italy. His boots was the first on the ground in Europe. He was a machine gunner and was wounded 3 times.
He was dedicated to Jesus Christ, his church and his family. Dad was the most caring, gentle, kind and loving man I have ever known.
Mr. Green was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Sheffield Green; parents, T.J. Green and Daisy Hale Green; sister, Marjorie Hall and brother, D.H. Green.
Survivors include his daughter, Jan Green McGill; sister, Nita Myrick; grandchildren, Kim (Wayne) Jenkins; Kenneth Walker; Krista (Gary) Autwell; Shaela Simpson; Matthew (Jill) England; Kara (Bart) Howard; Andrew England; Matthew Bolton; Ashleigh Walker; Chad Bolton; Madison Autwell; Garrison Hunt; Gavin Miller; Grant Smith; Dalton Elliott and Kayleigh Howard.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Walker; Gary Autwell; Wayne Jenkins; Bobby Hunt; Garrison Hunt and Matthew England;
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie Pitts; Jerry Pitts; Gavin Miller and Grant Smith.
The family extends special thanks to Amedisys Hospice; Tyler Pence; Kenny Walker and Kara Howard.
Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 11 am until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
