Mr. Mabrey was born on April 14, 1933 in Morgan County, Alabama, and grew up in Gadsden, Al. He was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School and Jacksonville State University. He served in the United States Navy and retired from Goodyear as manager of the Engineering Lab. Mr. Mabrey was a lifelong member of Dwight Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a choir member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher.
His favorite past time was fishing and he also enjoyed playing softball. Harold dearly loved his family and was much beloved by them, including all of his extended family. Whenever he was asked how he was doing, he always replied that he was a blessed man. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Juston and Louise Mabrey. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sarah Sutton Mabrey, his son and great blessing, Matt, and daughter-in-love, Angie, and the grandchildren he loved to his core, Matthew (Hannah) Mabrey and Meredith Grace Mabrey. His surviving sister is JoAnn (the late Jerry) Waits, and brothers are Jerry Don Mabrey (the late Pug) and Larry (Judy) Mabrey. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and special friends Scott, Larry, and Wade, along with his great buddies at Jack’s.
Rev. Steve Trader will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Mark Waits, David Cochran, Juston Mabrey, Mitch Mabrey, Kip WIlliamson, and Brent Lawley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dwight Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:30-12:30 on Saturday, January 19th with the service to follow at 12:30 at Collier-Butler.
