Rev. Harold Woodruff Wells

Rev. Harold Woodruff Wells of Rainbow City, AL, age 90, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was a devoted Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to those who knew him. Harold was preceded in death by his father, Howard Virgil Wells; and his mother, Ruth Boyd Wells. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Wells; daughter, Alison Roberts (Paul); grandson, Wilson Roberts; and his granddaughter, Anna Rae Roberts.

Harold was born and raised in Anniston, AL. He attended Mississippi State University on a baseball scholarship and graduated from Auburn. He was a coach and teacher for four years at Anniston High School. Mr. Wells earned a Doctor of Ministries degree from New Orleans seminary. He moved to Etowah County and was pastor of First Baptist Church Attalla for over twelve years. He served on the board of directors at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Harold taught in high schools, Gadsden State Community College, and churches for fifty-four years; and he served as a pastor for twenty-four years.

A visitation for Harold will be held from 10:00AM until 12:00PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00PM at Forestlawn Cemetery in Anniston, AL.
