Herman Earl Collins

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday December 23 at Collier Butler Chapel for Herman Earl Collins, age 79 of Gadsden, who passed away December 18, 2017. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Rev. Frank Samuels will officiate. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services.

Mr. Collins was a graduate of Gadsden High School, Class of 1956. He loved to fly his Cessna 170-B airplane and hang out with all of his airport friends. He had retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church.

His beautiful wife Sue “Sanky” Hames Collins and his parents Earl Marvin Collins and Sarah Belle Garner Collins precede him in death.

He is survived by his daughters Rhonda Collins Kelly ( Don) and Ramona Collins Kenley (Rip) ; Son David Collins (Tammi); Brother Jack Collins ( Joyce); grandchildren Paige Kelly Powell (Michael) , Drew Kelly (Chrystal) ; Ashleigh Collins, Christopher Collins, Tripp Kenley and Jedd Kenley; and Great Grandchildren Lincoln Powell, Anson Powell, and Isabelle Kelly.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Collins’ Sunday School class

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the hour of service.
