Father Jose B. Chacko will officiate. Interment will be at Forrest Cemetery (700 S. 15th St, Gadsden, AL 35901). Ida Jo was born in Gadsden in 1934. She attended Emma Samson High School where she was the head cheerleader and Miss Rebel Review. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Ben Pillitary. The Lord blessed their marriage with three beautiful daughters, Lisa, Benida, and Elizabeth. Ida worked in administration for the Gadsden City Board of Education. She had many friends in the Gadsden area, including 4 special ladies that have remained close friends through the years (Marlene, Joyce, Jimmie Nell and Peggy). She loved life and brought enthusiasm and excitement to everything she did. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life, and she enjoyed watching them excel in soccer, baseball, and marching band. Ida was an avid fan of Auburn football. She met the challenges of her last days with grace and faith. She was an example of courage to everyone around her. Preceding her in death is her husband, Ben Pillitary; father, Guy Frix; and mother, Mary Entrekin Frix. Survivors include her daughters, Lisa (Ed) Pillitary Mulvaney, Benida Bonville, Elizabeth (Mark) Waits; grandchildren, Taylor (Samantha) Robertson, Blaine (Kelly Nelson-fiance) Russell, Aly (Peter) Rish, Anders Bonville; and brother, Guy Edwin Frix Sr. Pallbearers will be Taylor Robertson, Blaine Russell, Peter Rish, Mark Waits, Ed Mulvaney, and Chuck Treece. Honorary pallbearer will be Anders Bonville. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Ady’s Army, or St. James Catholic Church. The family would like to express a special thanks to hospice nurses, Nicole, Stephanie, and Crystal; and the staff at Regency Pointe. Visitation will be at St. James Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. until time of service.

Dear Lisa and family,
While I will not be with you today to celebrate your mother’s wonderful life, my prayers and thoughts are with you. Both of your parents had such a positive influence on my life as a teenager. Your mom always embraced me and all of your friends with a her radiant smile which brought so much encouragement. Her sincere interest in my life and words of affirmation always meant the world to me. So many fun memories of spend the nite parties at your home and your parent’s involvement with our activities will always be cherished by me. May Our Lord bless and keep you and shine His face upon you as you celebrate your mother’s homecoming!
I love you,
Remona

I met Ida Jo when I was working at GW Floyd lunchroom. She would come to eat lunch. Usually she was with Carolyn Parrish, she was one of the kindest people that I have ever met. I am truly sorry for your loss. I'm certain that you will see her again. God bless you and your family.

I’m at a loss for words. Your Momma was one of the most precious souls I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I never saw her without a smile on her beautiful face. I remember her making lemonade for any and all kids who were playing outside in our neighborhood on a hot, sunny day. There will seldom be a day that passes that you won’t think, “I need to call Mom.” As much as I know you will miss her every day, we all know she’s finally truly “Home” with her Savior, and the love of her life. Praying for comfort and peace for you all during these days and the days to come.
