Irene Jones Peterson

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mrs. Irene Peterson, age 93, of Ashville, who died Saturday, September 20, 2014. Revs. Bill David and Rodney Davis will officiate with burial at Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Ashville. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.

Mrs. Peterson was a lifelong member of Gum Springs Baptist Church and a dedicated mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Peterson, son, Ervin Eugene Jones, daughter, Ruby Virginia Patterson, parents, Oscar and Willie Jester and brother, Travis Jester.

Survivors include her children, Betty (Bill) Davis, Jack (Zorene) Jones, Johnnie (Jan) Jones, Lonnie (Sandra) Jones, Carl (Carol) Jones, Julia Seawright, 12 grandsons, 8 granddaughters, 30 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, nephews, Henry Max Jester and Truman Boyd and a host of cousins.

The 12 grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

A very special thanks is extended to the Northside Health Care doctors, nurses and staff on “A” Hall.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
