Ivanell (Nell) Molly Thompson, age 88, of Southside, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. A visitation for Nell will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Rev. Bud Swindall will officiate. Burial will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Nell was born on July 3, 1936. She worked for many years as a custodian at Southside Elementary School. She made many special friendships during her time at the school, especially one dear friend Cathy. Nell was known for her delicious pancakes as well as her gravy and homemade biscuits. She made a profession of Faith in 1984/1985 and was baptized.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dulcy Thompson and many siblings.
Nell is survived by her children, Randy, Bobby, Ted (Barbara), and Hope (Andy); grandchildren with whom she loved dearly, Camron (Kimberly) and Alex (Emma); great granddaughter, Eleanor; and great grandson soon to be born, Waylon.
