James Edward Barton

entered into eternity to be with the Lord Jesus on Monday, October 06, 2025.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 09, 2025, at

2:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.

Rev. Nathan Glenn, Rev. Alan Hughes, and Rev. Jack Smith will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Barton attended Noccalula Church of God and Summit Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen White and Johnnie D. Barton; grandmother, Lula Hubbard; sisters, Linda White Tolleson and Kay White Nelson; brothers, Ray White and Ricky White.

Mr. Barton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis (Kirby) Barton; son, Kevin Barton; daughters, Lisa (Chris) Colegrove, DeAnna (Josh) Tarnate; grandchildren, Ryan Colegrove, Hannah (Ethan) Logan, Lauren Tarnate, and Madison Tarnate; great-grandchildren, Malorie Tarnate Burke; brother, Wendell Barton.

The family will accept flowers.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Tarnate, Ethan Logan, Chris Colegrove, Ryan Colegrove, Brian Phillips, Jerry Garmany, Matthew Phillips and Rodney Allen.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Aveanna Hospice. Nurses, Ashley Chamble and Savannah Cole; and Dr. Steve Sanders for 35 years of care.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, October 09, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
