James proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, retiring at the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC E-7). Over the course of his distinguished 28-year military career, he served 17 years as a Military Police officer and 11 years as a Correctional Specialist. He was a Vietnam veteran, dedicated to duty, leadership, and the soldiers he mentored.

After retiring from the Army, James continued a life of service and hard work at the Anniston Army Depot, where he also retired.
