
Funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Collier-Butler Chapel for James David Guest, 70, of Rainbow City, who died January 1, 2013. Rev. Craig Carlisle will officiate and Charles Nichols will be the soloist. Burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral Home Directing.
David was born April 18, 1942, graduated from Gadsden High School in 1960, and was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company with 25 years of service, and had been self-employed with J.P. Lipscomb & Associates for the past 15 years. He was the recipient of numerous Life Underwriters Achievement awards during his career. He served as a deacon at Meadow Brook Baptist Church and was a member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church at the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.C. Guest Jr. and Sarah Lou Guest.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gail Witcher Guest; sons Mark (Sidney) Guest, and Matt Guest; grandchildren Spenser, Cade and Ian Guest; brother Eddie (Louise) Guest; sisters, Wynn Hill, Ann (Herman) Jaggers, Sharron (Tim) Barrett, Cindy (Wayne) Russell, and Cathy (John) Weitzman; and sister-in-law and brother-in law, Judy and Sandy Willis.
Pallbearers will be Cade Guest, Ian Guest, Jan Hathcock, Herman Jaggers, Wayne Russell and Sandy Willis.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
